From THE Candidate

Thank you for visiting my campaign site! My name is Greg Buscemi, and the first thing you should know about me is that I love living and working at the beach. By day, I’m an attorney running my solo practice civil litigation law firm from my office on Causeway Drive. By night, I'm at home on the South end with my dog Kona enjoying the views of the ocean and sound from my front porch. I can't imagine living anywhere else. Every day I’m reminded how lucky I am to live here - the relaxed coastal atmosphere, the incredible views, the amazing people, and everything in between make this town a one-of-a-kind coastal treasure. I want to make sure that our local government is doing what's necessary to protect and preserve our coastal lifestyle for current and future generations.

We deserve leaders committed to protecting our valuable coastal assets and building a better community for years to come. We can't afford to let the personal or improper motivations of our elected officials guide their decisions in public matters anymore. There are serious problems that will likely require serious consideration and investment to solve and we cannot allow further inaction and indifference at the expense of public health and safety. It's time to start prioritizing the security and prosperity of our community residents and businesses with thoughtful and practical solutions to our town’s short and long-term problems. I'm running for mayor and challenging our current Mayor Pro Tem Darryl Mills because I don't believe he cares about any of that.

We need leaders who are willing to listen to the people, offer solutions to their problems, and take necessary action to accomplish those goals. The record is clear: Darryl Mills is not that leader. From what I can gather, his most notable achievements during his three terms as Alderman are raising parking rates and harassing a local waitress. If you’re like me, you believe that anyone who shamelessly uses racist and sexist insults to publicly belittle another person should be disqualified from government service in any leadership capacity. He does not represent me. He does not represent any other residents and neighbors I've come to know in recent years. I'd be willing to bet he doesn't represent you either.

The days of status quo inaction & indifference from our town’s leadership are OVER. Now is the time to hold our elected officials accountable so we can restore public faith in our local government. I've made a career representing friends and neighbors by fighting on their behalf and finding equitable solutions to their problems and disputes. It would be my honor to do the same for this incredible community. I am excited for the opportunity to serve as this town's mayor and I look forward to the challenges and accomplishments that lie ahead.

Together, we can build a better future for Wrightsville Beach.

Issues

Local residents and businesses have long shared concerns over issues affecting our small coastal town. These include increased traffic congestion, beach erosion, water quality and safety, disaster relief, and, most significantly, an overall lack of concern from our elected officials tasked with solving them. I believe our next mayor should prioritize:

  • Restoring transparency and fairness in our local government for all public matters

  • Protecting our ocean, coastlines & waterways

  • Ensuring a clean and safe water supply

  • Improving beach access with practical, affordable solutions so residents & visitors alike can enjoy our state's coastal resources
