Greg is running for mayor because he believes Wrightsville Beach deserves leadership that is reflective of its community.
The son of a nurse and restaurant owner, Greg grew up in the two-stoplight town of North East, Pennsylvania. As his parents ran the neighborhood Italian restaurant, Greg and his brother Jonathan bussed and waited tables. There, Greg quickly learned the value of always putting the customer and their needs first. As the youngest of three boys, Greg quickly developed a competitive nature which continues to feed his strong work ethic and unbridled enthusiasm for new challenges and opportunities. sports, and academics Greg was the only kid on both the high school football team and the debate team. After his family had to go through a lengthy and stressful legal process, Greg was inspired to become a lawyer.
Thanks to family vacations to the Outer Banks, Greg fell in love with the North Carolina coast and laid-back beach culture. He moved south to attend the University of North Carolina in Wilmington and the Wake Forest School of Law in Winston-Salem. During his time at Wake Forest, Greg dedicated himself to public service by interning with Legal Aid of NC and the Fifth and Fifteenth District Attorneys.
In 2015, Greg graduated from law school and began his career with Shipman & Wright, LLP, an award-winning litigation firm in Wilmington where he became well-versed in a wide range of practice areas. Three years later, he opened his own law practice dedicated to representing low-income clients who might be otherwise unable to afford traditional legal services.
Greg founded Buscemi Law, PLLC and quickly established his local office on Causeway Drive to provide community members with access to affordable, effective, and compassionate legal representation. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, American Bar Association, New Hanover County Bar Association, and North Carolina Advocates for Justice.
Every day, Greg fights for clients who have been taken advantage of by people in positions of power. He is deeply passionate about balancing the scales of justice and upholding the Constitution. In a small government like ours, he understands that a deep and abiding allegiance to the rule of law is of the utmost importance. Fairness, reasonableness, and consistency should guide every discussion.
As mayor of Wrightsville Beach, Greg will prioritize restoring transparency and fairness to our local government, protecting our coast and waterways, and improving beach access and public transportation for the benefit of residents and visitors alike. He plans to help the town streamline cooperation with state and federal agencies in order to better prepare for and respond to hurricanes and other natural disasters. He aims to make the beach more accessible and address traffic congestion with 21st-century solutions that include working with Wilmington officials and planning experts. As a town leader, Greg wants to set the example for how to develop a self-reliant coastal community, ensuring Wrightsville Beach is resilient and adaptable in the face of an uncertain future driven by climate change.
Greg lives on the South End of Wrightsville Beach with his husky Kona.
